AMURT has been active in responding to the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. The most recent response involved a 12-member AMURT team that visited Balaclava Primary School in St. Elizabeth to support the school’s ongoing outreach to families in rural communities facing hardship.

Super Typhoon Rai crashed into the country's southeastern islands on Thursday, levelling homes and bringing winds of about 195km/h (120mph). An AMURT relief operation is underway in the devastated regions and volunteers are distributing food and water to the affected population in Cebu.

Multiple chapters of AMURT in Inda has been providing regular support to those affected by COVID-19 lockdowns and subsequent loss of livelihoods. Treating it as a disaster with hygienic precaution and social distancing, volunteers in 15 states have served more than one million people.

Multiple chapters of AMURT in Inda has been providing regular support to those affected by COVID-19 lockdowns and subsequent loss of livelihoods. Treating it as a disaster with hygienic precaution and social distancing, volunteers in 15 states have served more than one million people. In the months of April through July 2020 hundred of thousands of hot meals were served regularly and households were given dry ration like rice, pulse, oil, potatoes, soybeans and other essential commodities.

More than 600 people are missing or unaccounted for in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, according to the White House. Some 2 million people are without power. Roads blocked by debris and downed communication lines have hampered search and rescue efforts.

Türkiye Earthquake Response

The AMURT & AMURTEL teams in Turkey are providing psychological first aid courses, restocking medical clinics and delivering pinpointed non-food supplies like tents, blankets, clothes, hygiene items, and toys. Apart from goods received from abroad, the teams are able to procure most items locally at favourable prices, so donating funds is the best way to support the teams.

Haiti Earthquake August 2021

Officials in Haiti have confirmed at least 1,297 people are dead after a powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Caribbean nation on Saturday. Rescuers are picking through rubble in a desperate search for any survivors. The southwest of Haiti appears to have suffered the worst of the damage, especially around the city of Les Cayes. AMURT & AMURTEL have teams on the ground and donations are welcome to support the relief efforts.

COVID-19 Response in USA

AMURT’s Food For All (FFA) program in Washington DC has seen a four-fold increase in demand for food over the past four weeks, increasing from 140 weekly food recipients in late March to 503 in late April. The new clients include senior citizens with underlying health issues, people with disabilities, single parents with children to feed all day at home and the recently unemployed, especially those laid off from restaurants.

Cyclone Fani, Response, Odisha, India

Extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani was the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the Indian state of Odisha (formerly Orissa) since Phailin in 2013. AMURT's relief team jumped into action immediately after the storm made landfall on May 2nd, 2019. They started by clearing trees from the roads and went on to distributed food and non-food items.
